Help and frequently asked questions for Little Golem

What is Little Golem?

Little Golem is an asynchronous, turn-based site for board and word games. You do not need to stay online while the other player thinks. Open the application later to see games where it is your turn.

Where can I play?

Use the web application or install one of the mobile applications. One account works on all clients.

How do I start a game?

Open List of games in the application and choose a game and variant. You can register for a Championship, Mini Cup or Ladder, join the Waiting Room, or create a user tournament when your account has that option.

Direct player invitations are no longer supported.

How much time do I have?

Day games use a time bank. The usual starting bank is 10 days and 36 hours are added after each move, up to the bank limit. Automatic vacation can postpone a timeout while vacation days remain. See Time and vacation.

Where are the game rules?

The Games section contains rules and variant notes. The application also links to the matching rules from its game list.

How are ratings calculated?

Rated games use Little Golem’s Elo calculation. Ratings are separate for each game and variant. Permanent kyu and dan ranks do not decrease. See Ratings.

How do I change my profile or see vacation use?

Open Profile in the application. Your own profile contains account settings, avatar controls, blacklist management, vacation allowance and the current year’s automatic-vacation history.

How do I contact another player or the webmaster?

Use Messages for private player messages. Use Contact webmaster in the application for support. If you cannot sign in, see the contact page.

What happened to invitations, blog, groups and voting?

These historical product areas are no longer active. Their old data may remain in backups or historical database records, but the features are not part of the current application.
